How to co-regulate extreme emotional responses

in the reaction - how to co-regulate extreme emotional responses

Working below threshold....right?

Well XD

Working below threshold is fundamental, but I believe it's just half of the solution. So what to do when the dog is already having an extreme emotional response and reacting?

We often see it as a set back, something to work around and recover from. A little embarrassment within our careful work, or even a failure.

This webinar will surely take you out of your comfort zone, leaning into the reaction as the opportunity you missed so far and, if you hit a plateau, possibly tackling what's keeping you form achieving the next level in helping your dog through their reactivity.

You have an important role to play in your dog's explosive reactions, as an agent for co-regulation, a channel for welfare, and fundamental support for your dog to learn how to process and extinguish such a strong emotional wave.

In this webinar, we'll learn to stop missing this opportunity, to guide dogs into feeling better in the presence of their triggers instead of managing or distracting them away. How to make sure their reactions will start being less intense, shorter, and less frequent. And much, much easier to extinguish.

Most importantly, we'll learn how to go from being cut off to becoming someone to lean on while having a reaction.

What is webinar is NOT about

  • Triggering reactions so we can practice

  • A comprehensive guide on reactivity

  • A list of quick fixes

  • A shortcut to make your life easier (this is hard work)

What you'll find in the webinar

  • Practical action points to start practicing from your next walk

  • A coherent theoretical framework

  • No compromises on your dog's wellbeing

  • A deeper understanding of dog communication and nervous system responses

  • A clear guide on what your role can be in your dog's experiences, to become relevant during challenges and an effective co-regulation agent

  • Pleeeeenty of time to discuss your questions, concerns, and challenges

About the webinar

This is a live session of 2+ hours with time for questions. You will receive the replay so you can return to it as many times as you need. The approach is grounded in polyvagal theory, emotion regulation, and a relationship-based understanding of behaviour.

This is not generic advice. It is a specific, nuanced framework for one of the hardest moments dog owners face.

It’s so informative and emotionally intelligent! I love how the series focuses on how to help your dogs feel safe and address the underlying emotions instead of suppressing behaviour or giving distractions to mask the true feelings

WHAT PEOPLE SAY ABOUT THE WEBINARS

Absolutely loved the webinar! I think I learned more from your one video about body language than I’ve learned in two years! The risk of retreating too early was fascinating. I definitely see a lot of River in the streeties, he is all about conserving his energy and then aggressive behaviour to ward other dogs off and to the untrained eye it can seem to come from nowhere but there have been a lot of signals prior to that also by for space that I now see. I wish we lived closer!

I loved the presentation and Q&As, thanks! And I really enjoyed hearing what the other owners struggle with too - it’s good to know we’re not alone
