separation anxiety
A dog can struggle being left alone for a variety of reasons and they might not be related to the traditional "fear of being abandoned". Separation issues very often say more about the dog's capacity to manage frustration, emotionally regulate independently of the owner, overall levels of anxiety, feeling unsafe (rarely) and pain, and, most importantly, the type of attachment we have formed with the dog.
Depending on the factors at play, a solution needs to be planned on the individual case. So, in this webinar, we will not go through the classic desensitisation and habituation, and the painful procedure to leave the dog alone for minimal increments of time until you can get to 1.5 minutes alone... I'm happy to announce that, not only that's not the only way, but also it's not even the most effective one.
Get ready to leave your dog alone and go out for dinner, do the grocery without taking turns to stay with the dog, go to the gym without engaging a sitter.... this webinar will discuss theory and practice and you'll acquire the tools to build an action plan around your specific dog. No timers, no tracking seconds, no pushing the dog almost to their limit before coming back to avoid an anxiety outburst.
Time to exit the mindset about "programming" dogs and to start to understand how to actually help them.
